Snow Girl

ella-close
Ella's loving the snow, looking cute as ever in her new snowsuit. The snow is piling up everywhere right now: berries, apples in the orchard beside us, across the lake (the view out my new office window) and at Apex, where Ivy and I enjoyed Hanna's birthday party a week ago. Gwen's got a super nice place up there, and they've had an enormous dump of snow in the past few days. Must be all right to be living at a ski resort when there's a foot of fresh powder.

Tannis also caught me pulling the girls around the yard on the sled, getting some much-needed exercise after the white stuff ended my biking season (prematurely, I might add) -- I think it's a great photo. We've been really cozy in the new house, feeling like we live in the country again for the first time since we were both kids ourselves.

I love those snow pictures (esp the berries!)and the views from your place. The absence of wind is so obvious in the way the snow can pile straight up! Ella looks so huggable in that snowsuit!

sweeeeeetie. She has those sort of blue eyes every girl wishes they had. Enjoyed all the pics. Are the girls hesitant about living somewhere new?

Thanks, Pearl. It's nice that you got to see the place in summer and stay for the campout with the girls -- otherwise it would probably be harder for you guys to picture us here.

Thx, Ang. Yeah, she's a doll. The girls love living here, and were generally really excited to imagine being here...but saying goodbye to the old place was a real pill for them. Ivy was only two and a half when we moved there, and Ella only a few months old...so that townhouse was really the only home they'd ever known.

Looks like fun. Ang is right about those eyes - killer.

Yeah, it has been fun, Heather. Imagine playing with your little dude in the snow in a year or two -- fascinating to think what he might look like at Ella's age, eh?

My condolences with the end of biking season - ours ended just last week as well...and it has been too cold to ski. My girls are loving the snow too - even volunteering to help shovel the driveway!

Sorry I missed this comment for weeks, Garth. Thanks for the condolences. This has been a very, very weird and disappointing winter for mountain biking. Usually we'd get those first couple of dumps of snow in a week or two; then it would melt and be perfect riding for a few weeks before Christmas...then repeat the cycle until mid-February when the snow would mostly be gone for good. This year it came early and stayed.
