Monterey

So, I'm in Monterey, California this week for a conference and work. It's gorgeous and I felt fully guilty wading in the ocean in the sunshine today while my loved ones try to keep snow from blowing into the house. I put up a set of photos tonight, and may add a few more before I leave.

Update: Great trip, overall -- such an amazing spot, the hotel and food were fantastic, and I learned a lot. I added a bunch more photos to the same set.

Which mountain is that in the set? Baker or further South? It's freaking huge.

The sea lions are crazy creatures, Ivy liked those.

I think it's Mount Shasta in northern California, but I saw a bunch of those giants south of Seattle...so cool to see them poking way out above the clouds.

Ivy would have adored seeing those sea lions frolicking and arguing. Pretty funny.

We're having a mild winter here but I'm still jealous! Love the sea lion pics!

Great self-portrait jer, so real.

Thanks, Teri. Glad to hear you aren't freezing this winter.

Ang, I was looking at some of your wonderful recent photos of your kids and marvelling that you live right beside the ocean. Every time I had a break in Monterey, I headed straight for the water like it was an irresistible force. I'll admit that I thought Powell River was an...eccentric choice for you guys, but maybe I had forgotten about that whole ocean thing.

So you thought my blog title only had to do with my lethargic and aimless lifestyle??
Powell River, hmmm, it's an ocean-side Winkler/New Zealand town with BC attitude. Guess you'll have to find out for yourself...uh oh, tell me I didn't open up that can of worms again.

Have you found yourself taking it for granted yet, or does it always still feel lucky to have the ocean right there?

Maybe if we didn't always keep having new kids, we'd feel like road tripping over to each other once in a while. Nothing like a newborn to make you NOT feel like sitting in a car for 10 hours. Some day...

Every 29 days or so I realize the amazingness of it all...and more frequently in summer...oh summer, hurry up, the indoors scene is getting old fast.

We've been feeling the same way...plus we're all fighting a cold right now, which doesn't help at all.
