Belly Beautiful

Just look at these two -- gorgeous. This weekend it was pretty cool to see them comparing notes, commiserating and laughing about their pregnancy predicaments. Here we thought we might be done with two kids years ago, and figured A & E might never have any...but now it looks like we'll have a couple of new babies within a week of each other, maybe even sharing a birthday. It was great to connect with them in this transition time, hearing about their preparations, hopes and fears -- I have no doubt that they will be fantastic parents. Lucky kid!

Awww...

It was so good for us to be up there with you guys. Although, whether you sensed it or not, I think we were scrutinizing you and your day-to-day lifestyle a little more than usual, imagining ourselves dealing with a little one in the not-too-distant future and pondering how it will all play out. And I must say I found the drama surrounding whole water-compatible fish manufacturing project a little daunting, which explains my reluctance to lend a hand. I must say, you handled that with all the aplomb of a veteran father.

Good times.

And Lots of fodder for discussion on the drive back to Vancouver.

They are both absolutely gorgeous. I'd have to say that I felt the BEST I ever have in my life when I was pregnant. I felt healthy, radiant, beautiful... I miss it, a little. Somedays I just want to push James back in there, where he was completely safe... and quiet. Hahaha! I hear you and Ryan had a long MSN conversation about kids. Who would have thunk? In any case, I love talking about parenting and kids - I could do it all day without tiring.

Oh, to be a fly on the wall of your Echo on the way home -- to get a vicarious glimpse into what our life looks like from outside. I wouldn't say I sensed more scrutiny, but I was certainly thinking about how our clans might mix over the next couple of years with a couple more little ones.

That fish project should have been doomed, but actually worked out pretty well in the end. Thanks for the compliment...I suppose my above-normal patience and engagement on that one was influenced by the fact that I had been ignoring the girls a fair bit. That was a pretty typical scenario you witnessed -- Ivy gets a grand vision in her head and then tries to rook the rest of us into participating so she can make it a reality.

Plett and I have chatted about kids a bunch of times over the past year -- it's kinda the space we're in, I guess. It's been cool to hear how stoked he is about James.
