Happy Birthday Tannisita

My best friend, beautiful wife and the mother of my children had a birthday this week. We didn't go too crazy with the celebrations, but tried to fit in a few special things for the special birthday girl. Breakfast at the Beanery, and Shaughnessy's stepped up with an excellent supper; probably the most fun we've had there and the kids were super mellow. Then over to Summerland Lanes for a family bowling session, which Gus won in convincing style over me, Ivy and Ella.

Thanks Len! It turned out to be a really great day despite my early grouching and yawning.

It was great, wasn't it? That late-afternoon nap, half-glass of wine and bath seemed to turn things around.

Happy Belated Birthday Tannis! Len and Gus hey? I want a cool alias. Shane's is Linus. You guys could make a wicked bowling team.

Sorry this is late, but Happy Birthday!

Maybe I'll even get to meet you some day ;)

Thanks for all the well wishes, I was delighted to even find one from an old bowling-mate!

Angella, you'd think in a town this size we'd already have met by default many times over, especially with kids of similar ages. One of these days it will happen...

Mabel, did you switch bowling names at some point in your storied career on the lanes? I could have sworn it was Mavis...unless this isn't who I thought it was.

Nicole, "Linus" is almost too cool for a bowling name, isn't it? Maybe not. I bet Linus is a better bowler than we are...maybe he can pass on some wisdom some day -- surely you guys are planning your Okanagan vacation for next summer?

Angella, had you strayed into Dragonflies & Amber in Peachland on Saturday, you would have bumped into Tannis. You must have been wondering why I would take all three of our kids into a toy store voluntarily, two weeks before Christmas (shakes head).

You're right Jer, Linus could be cool if it weren't for the fact that he carried around a blanket in the Peanuts cartoons. Years ago, Shane apparently had a striped shirt like him hence the nickname.

Sadly Shane's never been a great bowler, mind you we don't get out to do it all that much.

Now, rumour has it you're here for the holidays. Would love it if you guys plan to visit Gramma if you could let us know as I'd love to see you both and the kids. I've only ever been lucky enough to meet Miss Ivy.

I know it will be crazy though, so if it doesn't work out no worries. Just thought if it could it would be nice. Safe travels!

Hey Nicole -- yes it would be excellent to get our crews together. Are you there right through the Christmas break? Is Richard making the trip this year? Maybe we could get everyone over to Grandma's and bring pizza in or something so she doesn't have to cook.

We're here until the 3rd/4th. Richard is only here from the 23rd-27th because of work. Pizza at gramma's could definitely work. Let's figure something out once you get here ...

Would be great to see Richard -- perhaps the 27th for lunch? Or will he be gone then already? We'll figure out something...the schedule always gets a little crazy on these Christmas trips.

Sorry I only just saw this. 27th for lunch could definitely work. Richard will already be gone, but give us a call. I'll email you the number here.
