Catch-up

Also in the category of stuff that happened last year that I never posted about, I've had a draft post about our trip to Vancouver to see The National concert sitting here for about eight months and finally hit "publish" this week: The National in Vancouver.

Tracey's Birthday (Last Year)

This week Tannis took Tracey out for her birthday -- girls' night out in Kelowna with a nice Mexican feast and then the Sarah McLachlan concert that nobody seemed to have heard about. Sounds like it was excellent. It reminded me that I had never posted about her giant birthday bash LAST year -- a milestone 40th with surprise guests, a live band, and an incredible spread of food and drinks. I'm not a big party guy, but it was pretty fantastic and I had planned to post a few photos at least.

We're so thankful to have old friends like the Duecks here in Summerland -- people who don't require additional explanation when we can throw out old Rosenort references to explain some facet of human nature.

Welcome Warmth

Here's something we haven't seen too much of through April. It's been a long, cool, slow spring this year, with little hints of warmth that seem to disappear as quickly as they arrive. Not that it's been rotten weather, just lacking those days in early April where shoots up over 20 and we go sit at the beach imagining song summer days. I guess I shouldn't complain, as it's been perfect riding weather and the trails are in prime shape. I tromped all over Conkle Mountain scouting and buffing trails yesterday -- stoked that it's coming together as a legit riding area close to town.

In other news, I've been experimenting with photo manipulation, taking my pictures and mirroring sections of them to create interesting patterns and illusions. It's been fun, but I doubt it's something I'll stick with for long...although there may be potential, the set is growing.
