Pandemic Consumption

So it's only been seven years since my last post. Blogs, artifact of a past age. And I wish I had the mental energy for philosophical musings about covid19 or whatever, but this likely-brief resurrection will just be the usual. I haven't been reading much these past two months, other than out loud to Ezra before bed and news on my tablet, so no books this time.

Listening

We switched to Spotify, and I've been really enjoying making playlists. My formula has been to revist a favourite band, listen to their entire discography, and make a single best-of list for that band. So far the ones I've listened to most:

  • Nine Inch Nails
  • A Perfect Circle
  • Tom Rosenthal
  • Milky Chance
  • Mumford and Sons
  • Lumineers
  • Beck

Playing

Lots of time for gaming when there hasn't been much of a social life. It's my go-to when I'm stressed or anxious, so this is the list of games I finished in the past two months. Steam tells me it's about 150 hours of game time into these seven titles.

  • Inside
  • Darksiders 3
  • Darksiders Genesis
  • Steamworld Quest
  • Steamworld Heist
  • Portal and Portal 2

Eating and Drinking

  • Many, many Swashboxes from Driftwood Brewing, without a doubt the best mix pack ever
  • Growlers from Detonate and Breakaway, trying to keep the local micros alive
  • Homemade sourdough, a loaf every other day
  • Just Delicious takeout sushi every week or two
